Pain in right breast for at least two weeks but cannot feel lump - should I see GP?

Hi, I feel a bit silly, but on the other hand if something could be wrong, I would like to be checked. I do not feel pain in my brest in general, but I feel it suddenly when for example I hug my husband or touch my breast, or lay on it...just random pressing  on the bottom and side is painful. Maybe it is in my head, but I felt it more on side, today it is side and bottom of my breast. At the beginning I thought I am a woman, breasts are painful for lots of reasons, but it is at least two weeks now,it is only my right breast and only when pressed, so I don't know...I am 51 by the way, if it does matter. I do not want to message GP and she will say there is nothing to worry about, but I also do not want to miss anything. I did check my breasts and cannot feel anything. Quite few years ago doctor told me during checking my breasts that they are quite dense, so I am thinking- what if there is something there, but I simply cannot feel it?

What are your thoughts? Anyone had similar symptom? Should I message GP or wait? I feel right silly, but in the end of the day, it is my breast and I have a right to be concerned.

I would appreciate any advise, thank you so much. Betty

  • Hi Betty,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

I am sorry to hear about your concerns. We are advised to get any change in our breast investigated every time we notice anything unusual. Pain doesn't always accompany breast cancer, so hopefully you'll be OK. Contact your GP. You will not be wasting anyone's time. It is well worth doing, even if only for your own peace of mind.

Do please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
