The wait…mum put on 2 week pathway after a nodule was found during a routine lung screening. I can't stop thinking about it

Hi everyone.

My mum has just had a routine lung screening and a few days later the radiologist telephoned her and advised she has been put on the 2w pathway. This is because she needed further testing. The stats from the leaflets state that 3 out 100 require further testing and of these 3, 2 have cancer so we knew the odds weren’t great!

Today I read the letter from the radiologist to the hospital and it advised that  the findings require urgent review. It states that the “risk assessment - high risk for lung cancer”. A 35mm nodule has been found and that the scan highlighted suspected cancer.

is this normal wording or very discouraging?

it’s only been 2 days but why is this all I can think about?!
