  • Welcome to Cancer Chat, LisaSerfg.

I’m glad you reached out, as it sounds like this news has come as quite a shock and has understandably caused a lot of worry.

It’s completely natural to feel uneasy while waiting for a colonoscopy. The uncertainty and anticipation can be the hardest part. Some people find it helpful to focus on taking things one step at a time and to remember that this test is there to provide clarity and reassurance about the cause of the positive FIT result.

If your thoughts begin to run ahead, gentle distractions, talking with someone you trust, or writing down any questions you may want to ask before the appointment can help you feel a little more prepared and in control.

If you would feel more comfortable speaking with someone outside of the forum or your immediate circle, our nurses are available to listen and talk things through. You can call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. There’s also information on our website about colonoscopy should you feel like having a read.

I hope your appointment comes through quickly so you are not left waiting too long for answers. When you know more, do feel free to come back and let us know how you are getting on. We’re keeping our fingers crossed for you.

    All the best,
