I have had a painful burning sensation in my right breast and under arm with stabbing pains. I have had a mammogram and scan, all looked fine. A month after this started I also experienced numbness in both feet and lower legs. my doctor sent me to A&E during my examination I was asked questions and one was about my alcohol consumption. I was truthful and said I drink wine every day and had done for years. The doctor said this was the probable cause of nerve damage which was causing these problems. I was given vitamin B1 as it seems alcohol strips your body of this essential vitamin, and of course advised to address my alcohol consumption. After this very frightening experience. firstly thinking I had breast cancer, then my doctor suspecting I had a serious nerve disorder, I was relieved to know neither of these were the case. I have stopped drinking as if I don't the damage to my nerves will continue. I wish we could be made aware of this danger, I must stress that I was drinking a lot of wine so as not to frighten anyone reading this post. Any breast pain needs checking out, but it is not always cancer.
