Scared after breast biopsy - have a phone call appointment on Friday. Will I get my results then?

Hi! I found a lump about a month and half ago, I went to urgent care that same day and was seen for 30 seconds and told it’s an infection and given anti biotics and told to come back if it hasn’t gone once I’ve finished them.
went to my GP as it had not gone but grown and was referred to the breast clinic, where I was told it was a nothing, then they scanned and said it looks unusual and they needed to take a biopsy there and then. They kept saying they didn’t know what it was,

i am on pins sitting on what it could be, i have a phone call appointment on Friday and still panicking about it, im losing sleep over it and everything.

they told me im too young for it to be anything bad…. Im 27 and I don’t think that should factor in anything as that was the only reason it “can’t be anything bad”

do they give all results over the phone if I request to know when they call?, I’m more panicked about not knowing than if they tell me.
stress level 100000

  • Hi Nicogal,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I can understand this must be causing worries - I know it's never easy dealing with uncertainty and waiting for results.

I'm not sure when your breast clinic appointment was, but typically biopsy results take around 2-3 weeks. Usually you would have a face-to-face appointment, but it's possible you could hear results over the phone. It's a little difficult to advise exactly what to expect during your phone call.

It may help to make a list of any questions you have, so that you can ask anything you want to during this appointment.

If you want to talk things through with someone prior to that, you are welcome to give our nurses a call. If you'd like to do that, you can reach them on freephone 0808 800 4040 - Monday-Friday, 9-5.

And in the meantime hopefully you'll get more replies to your post here soon.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
