Endometrial cancer yes or no

I hope this is ok to ask on here.

Back in 2023 I had a cervical ablation. Fast forward to July 25 and now in menopause I had slight bleeding again. This kept happening so eventually I went to doctors & i was put on 2wk fast track. Vaginal scan showed thickening so i then went under GA &had a hysteroscopy they tried multiple times but were unable to get a biopsies due to the scarring but said what they could see looked ok. Also the mri was not clear either because of scarring, I was put on a wait and see. December the bleeding started again,  and I have been told that they cannot give me a definitive answer of, it is cancer, or not. They cannot rule cancer out, so the best option would be a total hysterectomy to be sure. I signed all the consent forms there and then. I was told the wait times are long but she will put me down as urgent. It's now 9weeks and I have heard nothing, so I called the admin/ appointments, and was informed it will be at least a years wait. As yes im urgent as there is not a proper diagnosis but because its not a positive cancer in not as urgent. Im a little freaked out has this happened to anyone else? Should I be worrying.

  • Hi Sharon and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry to hear that a definitive diagnosis can't be given and that you may be waiting up to a year to have your hysterectomy. This must be incredibly frustrating.

Hopefully some of our members who have been in a similar situation will share their stories and advice with you soon but if you'd like to discuss this further with one of our cancer nurses, they're available on 0808 800 4040. Their helpline is open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and they will do all they can to address your questions and concerns.

I know there's nothing I can do to make this easier but I hope you can take some strength, and comfort, from knowing that you are not alone and that we will be here to support you whilst you wait.

    Kind regards,
