really intense lymph node fears

Hiya!! I’m writing this as i have been struggling intense fear with my lymph nodes for the last four months, it started ovee a completely harmless rash that i went to A&E over and the doctor mentioned platelets in which i immediately thought “leukaemia”. Now, i have had quite prominent lymph nodes since i was 11 from what i remember as that was the first time i went to the doctors about rhem and then i went once again when i was 15. I am now 18 and after that A&E trip i have been fixated like never before on my lymph nodes and have been convinced i have lymphoma it’s so scary. i’ve been to the doctors several times and even paid for an ultrasound in which it was noted that the largest couple where 0.8cm.

I was sick for a whole month in december with repeated flus and i’ve noticed the last two or three months that a lymph node on the left side of my neck is really sticky outy when i tilt my head especially, it’s movable but quite hard and i would say it’s grape sized but also feels like there’s another one at the top of it almost stuck to it and i fear it’s gotten bigger since the ultrasound? My mind is urging me to ring the doctors agaib but i don’t want to out of fear, i also poke and prod at it a hundred times a day lol but i just would love to know what anybody else thinks of it! Thank you i would love to just leave this behind me

  • Hello gmoon70 and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry to hear about the intense fear you have about your lymph nodes and the changes you've noticed in one on the left side of your neck.

If you really do think it's gotten bigger since you were last scanned, then it may be best to book an appointment with your GP to get this checked out. I know you're scared, but they are the only ones who can examine you and let you know if this is any cause for concern so when you feel ready to do so, give your surgery a call and book an appointment as speaking with a medical professional is the only way to put your mind at ease. Also, do try and resist touching it so much as you may be making it worse without realising. Easier said than done I know, but if you're able to give it some time to breathe, you will then be able to see if the size of the lymph node goes down on its own.

Hopefully some of our members will offer you their thoughts and advice, but in the meantime I hope you're able to speak to someone about this soon and that you're able to get some much needed answers and peace of mind.

We're sending you all our support gmoon70 and will have our fingers crossed everything will be o.k.

    Kind regards,
