2 week referral - head and neck cancer

Hi all,

This is my first post, I have just been placed on the two week wait following a lump I’ve had for 5 weeks in my neck painless and has slowly grown with firmness. I’ve had standard blood tests, nothing to report other than crp 6 which isn’t much of a concern. I also have antibody which would show past infection with EBV. my Nan on my mums side passed away from NH Lymphoma. Other than being very tired and joints achy I’ve not got any symptoms, I also need to clear my throat often when talking.
I have also now got a lump the other side of my neck more or less the same position they are lower part of the neck sort of central but above collarbone. I have also noticed I have a lump more like a swollen mass in the side of my neck towards the hairline.
I started with just one lump so I am a bit confused now, I know I need to wait but it feels like I don’t really know what is going on. I am only 31 with two small babies so it is concerning.

  • Hi Rosepetals1 and welcome to Cancer Chat.

I'm really sorry to hear about the lumps in your neck and for the worry they're understandably causing.

I just wanted to give you our cancer nurses telephone number so you can talk things through with them. Hopefully with their guidance and insight, you'll have a better understanding of your situation whilst you wait for your results. They're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and will do all they can to help, so do give them a call when you can.

I know there have been numerous discussions on the forum about neck lumps before, many of which you can find using the 'search forum' box at the top of this webpage, but hopefully some of our members who are in a similar situation at the moment will be along soon to offer their support and advice.

I hope you won't have to wait too long for your results Rosepetals1, and that you receive good news when the time comes.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
