Breast discomfort getting worse - I've been to the breast clinic twice. Am I wrong for wanting another opinion?

I am a 70 year old lady and for the last six months I have had discomfort in my left breast, and a hardness across behind my nipple about the size of a tangerine but not a lump, and a sore nipple, I have seen the breast clinic twice as the first time they said it was chest wall issues, and I accepted it in relief, when I got home I thought no it’s in my breast not my chest so I asked doctor if I could see them again, I did and they said it’s just dence breast tissue, I’ve had a mammogram and a ultra sound but she didn’t go all over my breast with it just the nipple area, the discomfort is getting worse, am I wrong for wanting another opinion?

  • Hello Maumc,

I'm sorry to hear about the discomfort you've been having. You did the right thing in going to get it looked at. Seeking a second opinion is something you might like to think about once you've received and digested the results of your tests. You can find more advice on getting a second opinion on our website. If you haven't received your results yet, I hope they arrive soon so that you'll be able to think about next steps with more certainty.

    Best wishes,
