Bowel Cancer - waiting for FIT test results but thinking the worst. Has anyone had the same symptoms and it wasn't cancer?

Hi. I’m new here I am absolutely petrified. The past three weeks my bowel movements have been different, to then I ordered my own FIT test of Amazon which did show a positive reading. I hadn’t noticed any blood in my poo before then as never really checked. However today and yesterday I have seen blood mixed in with my stool, I have awful pains on my left hand side sort of like a stitch feeling and lower back pain. As well as severely bloated especially after eating and needing to go toilet more frequently. I have been to the doctors and they have sent off my FIT test so now it’s just a waiting game. I am thinking the absolute worst case scenario. Has anyone else had the same symptoms and it wasn’t cancer. :-( Yes I’ve been googling and TIkTok which I really know isn’t helping but I just can’t help it. Many thanks

  • Its good to get it checked out and the doctors are very good with you whatever the results.

Glad you have got it checked out.  Even if

It is a positive result could be so many non serious things so dont think the worst.

  • I had the  similar as you. Stomach cramps,  runny stool with quite a bit of blood in my stool.

i was petrified, ordered a FIT TEST and saw my GP.

The fit test came back unclear, and a colonoscopy was ordered by my GP, as urgent, suspected cancer…..

I was so worried, expecting the worst…

I had the colonoscopy two weeks later, and it was discovered that I had 4 polyps, which were removed there and then , for testing.

2 weeks later the results were posted to me as CLEAR… no cancer!

so you see, there are many reasons for blood in stool, or change in bowel movements!
