VIN 3 need advice

Please help me. I have previously had a vulva biopsy which came back as VIN 2 and 3. I saw my consultant 6 months later, which was December and she did a further biopsy as either there was a reoccurance or she did not get it all the first time. This biopsy has now healed so I've just taken a look and took a picture and there is still some of what she removed left (it's a like a white patch) meaning she hasn't managed to take it all again this time. I'm still waiting for the results of this biopsy but I just don't know what to do, I just don't feel very confident in her and I'd rather see someone else. If the first biopsy was VIN3 then surely it should have all been removed properly. Do I ask to be referred to another consultant?

  • Hello Jessie88

I'm so sorry to hear about your diagnosis of VIN3 and the problems that there have been sucessfuly treating it. It's understandable that you have questions and concerns and that your confidence in the specialists is faltering.

We have some information about asking for a second opinion on our website that you might find helpful. I wonder if it might also help to take a relative or friend with you to your next appointment for some moral support.

Here at Cancer Research UK we have a team of specialist cancer support nurses that you can speak with as well. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information and support they can. If you'd like to talk with them before your appointment, you can call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

I do hope you can get some answers and reassurance soon Jessie88. Keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We're here for you.

    Best wishes,
