Bleeding after menopause - found out I have abnormal lining and will need a biopsy. Is it normal to have cramping and pains 4 days after having an ultrasound?

Hi all, I’m 55 post menopausal. Had one week of heavy bleeding. Sent for a transvaginal u sound. Was told at the appt I had an abnormal lining - 13mm and I would need a biopsy. I said “hopefully it turns out ok”. Sonography didn’t really say anything and now I’m really worried. My appt for hysteroscopy and assuming biopsy is not for four weeks. I’ve got cramping and pains 4 days after the ultrasound. I’ve got fibroids and telling myself it’s that but I’m worried x Anyone had similar? Thanks x

  • Hi Lottiebun and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry to hear about the abnormal lining that's been found and that further testing is needed. I know this must be worrying, even more so with the cramps and pains you've been experiencing over the last 4 days, but I really do hope this has improved since you made this post.

If the pain has continued however, or got worse, then make sure you speak to someone at the ultrasound department as they'll be able to address your concerns and put your mind at ease. You can discuss this with one of our cancer nurses as well if you like. They're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and they will do all they can to help.

Hopefully some of our members will offer their support and advice to you soon but in the meantime, we're wishing you all the best with your hysteroscopy and we'll have our fingers crossed everything will be o.k.

    Kind regards,
