Relieved after breast clinic - positive story

Hi everyone.  I’ve been obsessively reading these forums the past week or so, and I promised myself I would add my own story if I had a positive outcome as the positive stories gave me such hope!

I went to the GP just under a week ago about breast pains which I’d had for about a month. Just before that I’d had a strange greyish discharge from the nipple in that breast. The GP found “thickening” on that breast and I was referred under the 2ww. I have anxiety anyway and I was absolutely spiralling. I then found out my appt wouldn’t be likely for 5 weeks and I was distraught. I have two young daughters and I was thinking the worst. In the end I decided my mental health was suffering too much, so I went private and was seen the next day. Consultant couldn’t feel anything untoward, ultrasound showed that everything was fine! A couple of cysts but that’s all. The point of this isn’t to promote going private but just to have hope that even if you have to wait for an appt and you have the same symptoms as me, that it’s not necessarily bad news. I hope this maybe helps someone who comes across this thread one day and is feeling the same despair that I was.

  • Hi Relieved88,

Thank you for posting about your positive outcome. Many people don't realise that of all the people who attend the breast clinic, only 20% get a cancer diagnosis. I am delighted for you and relieved to hear that you are one of the lucky ones!

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
