Am I being a hypochondriac?

Hi all,

I feel at a loss a little bit and feel like I’m going crazy. I haven't been feeling well for a while. A few months or so, but feeling worse recently. My symptoms include tiredness, falling asleep during the day, and early evenings. My body feels tired, walking up stairs is difficult, makes my muscles ache, feels out of breath. I have very itchy skin, worse on legs and arms, worse when in shower or bath. I have random pains in my body, my legs, shoulders have a deep ache now and again. And i have a weird chest pressure.

I’ve had a set of bloods. Everything was fine apart from high eosinophils. But the doctor just said he thinks it’s stress.

I asked for another appointment, and they gave me some antihistamines which didn’t do anything.

I feel silly and mad going to the doctor again. I just feel so run down.

sorry, not sure why I’m posting, maybe to not feel alone with it all!

  • Welcome to the forum jd665 although I'm sorry to hear about your symptoms.

Our members know how tough it can be to live with on-going and unexplained symptoms, especially if you feel like things are not improving even after you've been to your GP, so hopefully some of them will be along soon to offer their support and advice.

If it would help, we have a team of cancer nurses you can talk to on 0808 800 4040. Their helpline is open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and they will do all they can to support you and address your concerns.

I'm not sure from your post if you saw the same doctor about these issues, but if there is more than one GP that works at your surgery you could try getting a second opinion from a different doctor.

I hope writing everything down has helped somewhat jd665, and that my reply will reassure you that you are most certainly not alone with all of this.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
