Nipple discharge and small lump

Hello,

On 11th Jan my right nipple spontaneously had some yellowish discharge, about the size of a 50p coin. There is mild achiness, but nothing unusual. I tried squeezing during the week ,but nothing further came out. Then yesterday another dollop of discharge spontaneously appeared. I have today also found a pea sized hard lump on the right side of the breast. There is a strong history of young breast cancer in the family but I don't have the BRCA gene.

The earliest I've been able to get a drs appointment is Thursday 22nd

I'm 34 and have never been pregnant.

I'm starting to really worry.

  • Hello MarilynBunroe,

I just wanted to wish you the best of luck for your doctor's appointment on the 22nd - just two days to wait now and I hope that you will find out what may have caused this discharge. I can imagine seeing this discharge was a bit distressing and you're right to get this checked as soon as possible. It's a shame they haven't been able to see you earlier but make sure you mention everything you have noticed and which you have detailed here, the yellowish discharge, the mild achiness as well as as the pea sized hard lump on the right side of your breast.

It is normal to be worried especially knowing that there is a strong history of breast cancer at a young age in your family but try if you can not to anticipate what it might be as there are so many things it could be other than cancer. I hope that you get some answers soon and that it all turns out to be nothing of concern.

I can imagine this is a rather anxious time for you at the moment and while you are waiting for clarity on all this, I would like to share with you our helpful tips on how to cope while waiting for news which I hope you will find useful during this time of uncertainty.

Other members of our community will have experienced similar symptoms before and I hope that they will be along shortly to share their experience with you.

Best wishes and best of luck for your appointment on Thursday,
