Hi everyone,
I have a calcified thyroid nodule that was first picked up incidentally on a pre-op scan back in 2022. At the time it measured around 2.5 cm. I had a follow-up ultrasound a few months later and it was graded U2/U3, so no biopsy was recommended. They did suggest another ultrasound about 6 months later, but I honestly can’t remember having one.
Fast forward to now (2026), I’ve noticed the lump on the right side of my thyroid is much more obvious. I recently saw my GP, who felt it was roughly 4 cm x 4 cm. I don’t have any other symptoms with no changes to my voice, no swallowing issues but the lump is visible and I can clearly feel and grasp it under the skin. My GP has referred me for another ultrasound.
I’m wondering if anyone has experience with nodules changing from U2/U3 over time? What sort of outcome or next steps are usually considered in this situation? Also, could the nodule actually be larger than what my GP could feel on examination?
Any insight or shared experiences would really help. Thanks in advance.
