I'm sorry to hear about the dense tissue you've found and for the worry this is causing. As you say, continuous prodding can make the area worse so if you can, try to stop touching it for now and see if it starts to go down by itself. If it doesn't improve, or gets worse, then it would be best to book an appointment with your GP as they'll be able to examine you and let you know if this is any cause for concern. Fingers crossed that won't be the case, but it's always good to get any persistent or unusual symptoms checked out, if only for peace of mind.
