What next? 2 benign tumours on my neck have grown and 3 spots have been found on my lungs. I'm so scared

Not been on here in a while - 2 benign solitary fibrous tumours in neck- operation was scheduled for October 2025 - day before it was cancelled as no i.t.u bed for me...but as we were already down in the West Midlands (long way from home) I had an up to date mri and ct scan....then back home.

2weeks later had a follow up.clinic appointment-but had a ct with dye and was asked to lower trousers (seemed odd as tumours in neck) - went into consultant afterwards,he said that a previous scan showed 3 spots in my lungs...

So now on reading letters from consultant to my gp and myself it looks like I now have to have a biopsy on these things in my lungs....also on reading my neck tumours have grown and are compressing my vertebral artery which is obviously a cause for concern..

I have a great husband who helps me deal with all this, also family and friends....but im so so scared...

Would appreciate any thoughts x x

  • I'm sorry to hear about these latest developments Valley1.

I know this must be worrying but it sounds like you're in good hands with your consultant so hopefully you won't have to wait too long for the biopsy on your lungs and to find out what will happen with your neck tumours.

Hopefully you will receive some support and advice from the community soon but if it would help to talk things through with one of our cancer nurses, you can give them a call on 0808 800 4040. Their helpline is open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and they will do all they can to address your concerns and put your mind at ease about what comes next.

Do let us know how things go when you can Valley1. We'll be thinking of you and will have our fingers crossed everything will be o.k.

  • Hi still waiting for lung biopsy appointment...

I cant get my head around the fact that these 'lesions' which were noted at mdt in December had actually been on an mri scan in january 2025!   So why is it only being discussed now, when I consider my neck operation far more important - my op was only cancelled through 'lack of itu bed' so would these lesions have gone unnoticed...

I have pressure in my head as these things are pressing on various 'scary' things.. my consultants secretary has chased up the lung guy,and I was asked if I was taking any blood thinners by her,so could we getting closer to neck op maybe?

My op was cancelled on 19th Nov and I cant help but think how far along I would be into my recovery now... very frustrated..

    Xxx

    Any thoughts...

  • I'm sorry you're still waiting for your lung biopsy Valley1. This must be really frustrating.

If you want to get a better idea of how much longer the wait may be then you could try getting in touch with your consultant's secretary to find out more.

I'm also sorry to hear about the pressure you've been experiencing in your head. I know this must be quite scary but hopefully it will subside soon. If it persists however, or gets worse, then don't hesitate to get in touch with your GP or the NHS on 111 for further advice.

I can see you have made a post about this in our nurses section of the forum as well. They will get back to you as soon as they can but in the meantime, I hope you can take some comfort from knowing that we're sending you all our support and that you are not alone at this time.

    Kind regards,
