Ongoing constipation

Hello, I’m so worried and I was hoping to talk to someone. apologies in advance if TMI.
About 2 months ago I became constipated. It happened quite suddenly and hasn’t gone since.
I’ve gone from having a BM about 5-7 times a week (at least), with normal poos, to going 3-5 times a week and being constipated when I do go. The size, consistency etc has changed. I also noticed a tiny bit of fresh red blood on the toilet paper a few times.
At first I thought the constipation was strange for me but wasn’t bothered, and then I put the blood down to the fact that I had been straining. It’s such a small amount of blood, and only a few times.
then the last time I saw blood, it was a tiny bit more (as much as a 5p) and I suddenly clicked to the fact that I’ve been constipated for so long.
im now so worried.
I’ve booked a Drs appointment but its not for a few weeks and as im 28, I dont want to be over looked/not taken seriously.

Is it possible to have this constipation and blood without cancer?

I have long Covid so I experience a lot of daily symptoms like nausea and fatigue so it’s hard to know what other symptoms I have, if any. But nausea has been worse this year. No weight loss and fatigue is mild and not daily.

Thanks

  • Hi Abcd123,

A very warm welcome to the forum.

I am sorry to hear about your constipation. I am glad to see that you have booked an appointment with your GP to get this investigated. You can get bleeding that is not cancer related. Many people have polyps at the entrance to the anus and the strain of defecating can cause these little lumps to bleed. Have you made any changes to your diet or changed any medication before this started? I sincerely hope that nothing untoward is found.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
