Scared its stomach cancer

Hello,

I know no one here can give me a definitive answer, but I feel the need to vent.

I am driving myself to distraction with worry over unusual symptoms I am having. I frequently have bad heartburn and take PPIs for it. A couple of weeks ago I started having 10 hour attacks, which eventually died down last week. But now has been replaced with nausea, stomach ache after eating on both sides and loss of appetite, I have lost half a stone because I just don't want to eat.

I had a H/Pylori test which was negative, but was taking PPIs, so make be false negative.

I have done what I shouldn't and have been googling and am convinced I have stomach cancer.

I have a horrific gag reflex so am paying for a Ultrasound rather than camera, the doctor has never mentioned a camera by the way, but I am booked in for a blood test.

How do you stop yourself from panicking and endlessly scrolling?

  • Hello Grillz

I'm sorry to hear that you've had some ongoing health concerns recently. It's understandable that you're feeling anxious about what might be causing your symptoms.

We know that many people turn to the internet looking for information when they have health concerns, Unfortunatley what we see happen most often is that instead of finding reassurance, they are left with more unanswered questions and heightened anxiety.  Please try to avoid looking online for answers.

It's good to hear that you have some further investigations booked, but do keep in touch with your GP, who will be best placed to arrange any further tests, referrals or treatment that may be appropriate.

If you think it might help to talk things through with one of our nurses, they will be back in the office next week, available on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm (excluding bank holidays).

I do hope that you get some answers soon and that the health professionals can improve things.

    Best wishes,
