Visible lump but cant feel one

Hi. I check my breasts very regularly. I do it in the shower or in front of the mirror.

About a week ago I caught sight of what looks like 2 small bumps. I cant feel any lumps.

I have had hhubby look and he sees the bumps. He says he feels something underneath, not a lump as such.

I'm just a bit worried about waiting until after new year ... and don't know what to do.

  • HI Jojobear 148,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

Have you seen your GP about this? If not, I would advise you to phone and try to make an appointment tomorrow, as there may be a delay for appointments if you wait until the new year. If your GP feels that there is the possibility of anything being untoward, you will be referred to the breast clinic for investigation. There is usually a wait of about 2 weeks from the time your referral is received from your GP, before you get an appointment, but it can be a little longer over holiday periods in some areas.

Try not to panic. Not all breast lumps are cancerous. Only 20% of those who attend the breast clinic will get a cancer diagnosis. Many tend to have benign cysts or fibroadenoma. It is impossible to predict what is causing these 'bumps' until they are examined and tested, so you are just as well to make sure. I sincerely hope that nothing untoward is found. Please keep in contact and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
