Lung cancer or lymphoma

Hi just for some advice I had a pet scan when I went abroad due to falling ill, I came back home and the gp did an urgent referral. Hospital did everything very quickly, I saw the consultant had a scan and a biopsy last week and was told I would be seen in clinic the following week, with my results. I rang the hospital and was told I would hear something by this evening , no call  the waiting is horrible. Can someone advise.

Would they only call if the biopsy confirmed cancer. My scans showed enlarged lymph nodes in the neck and chest. I had an ebus biopsy which I was told the results take only a few days .  Thanks Alayna

  • Hello alayna

I'm sorry to hear that you've been unwell recently and that, following some initial scans and investigations, you've been told that you may have a possible cancer diagnosis. You're right, the waiting for results is horrible and many people would say that this period of waiting and uncertainty is one of the worst parts of the journey.

Hopefully by now you have had some contact from the hospital but if you've still not heard, then do give them a call on Monday. Let them know that you were told someone would contact you and you've had no communications and that you'd like an update.

If there's anything that you'd like to talk through with one of our nurses you can call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information and support they can.

Keep in touch and let us know how you get on alayna. We're here for you.

    Best wishes,
