Breast advice needed

Hello,

I am in need of some solid advice.

i am 25 and am considered overweight, however i am extremely sporty. I dont drink on the regular (only on special occasions) and I don’t smoke. What I do have is severe health anxiety and ever since I’ve turned 25 (recently) I have received nothing but advertisements for women’s health.

i have been checking recently almost every day and honestly I am really really unsure what “abnormalities” i should be looking for.

My nipples are sort of flattened? They do perk up occasionally but they are soft (particularly where I were sports bras often). i also have tiny tiny sports sort of like hair follicles or acne which I’ve had for years. I also have sort of cellulite on both sides of my breasts that are more prominent when I stretch my arms above my head, which are typically vertical. I am really unsure if this is new or if I’ve had this for a while since I’ve only begun checking (literally every day) recently.

I’ve tried reaching out to my GP via an econsult but appointments are soooo hard to book. And I feel more comfortable going in person rather than a video call via my private health. Also the breast screening in my town also apparently are only available to those over 50 and with a GP referral.

can anyone offer advice? Or any experience?

At the minute, I’m kinda panicking in thinking this could be bad (Like dumpling or something) and googling it I know will do more harm than good, but when you’re just being notified of women’s health since it’s not actively discussed in your village you tend to freak.

many thanks,

  • Hello timidtiger and a big welcome to our friendly community,

It does sound like the health anxiety might be making you very anxious and those adverts you have seen may have exacerbated it. It is important to check your breasts regularly and to get in touch with your GP if you notice anything abnormal and I think it would also be a good idea to mention this extreme health anxiety which can be so debilitating and for which you can seek help. Your doctor will be in the best position to help you with these issues so try if you can to fill the e-consult and see if you can get an appointment to speak to someone about this as it seems to be having an impact on your wellbeing.

You are absolutely spot on though that googling it will only make your health anxiety ten times worse at least so stay well away from Google and try and have a conversation with a medical expert which I hope will give you peace of mind and reassure you.

    Best wishes,
