Suspected skin cancer

Around 4 weeks ago I had a mole removal from my foot, following a two week fast track, with suspected melanoma.

The surgery went well and I was told that I’d have a follow up apt with the plastic surgeon who removed it within 4-8 weeks.

Shortly afterwards I received a letter to say I would be seen at the end of January, with this being a while away I presumed all was fine. Today I have received a text message from the hospital to say my appointment has been bought forward for 9 days time and with a different plastic surgeon specialist.

naturally I am now dreading the outcome, and fear that just 3 days before Christmas im about to get a skin cancer diagnosis.

Im not sure I’ll sleep or function for the next week! If I can the plastic surgeon team are they likely to give me any information over the phone?

  • Hey Millie94,

I noticed you haven't heard back from anyone just yet so I wanted to stop by to offer my support and to reassure you that your post has been seen.

I know you must have a lot of thoughts running through your head right now but try not to panic or think the worst if you can as your appointment could have been brought forward for many reasons. I know that's much easier said than done, but I hope it helps to know that our community are here for you and hopefully some of our members will stop by soon to share their experiences and advice.

I'm not sure if you have already spoken to the plastic surgeon since making this post, but if you have then I hope you were able to get the answers and peace of mind you were seeking. If you haven't and would like to talk things through with one of our cancer nurses before doing so, you can give them a call on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very insightful and will do all they can to help.

We're sending you all our support Millie94 and wishing you all the best with your appointment. We'll have our fingers crossed for a good outcome.

    All the best,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
