Swollen lymph gland

I’m really concerned, as I’ve been feeling really unwell now for 5 weeks.  I have severe fatigue, night sweats, a swollen gland, trouble swallowing and weight loss.  My GP said he would refer me and asked if I only had one tonsil, as he couldn’t see the other.  I had a chest X ray this week, which I was really pleased about, as it was within 3 days.  I was supposed to be having a scan of my gland within 2 weeks, but have just been told it will be 6-8 weeks.  Does this sound normal? 

  • Welcome to the forum DexterF although I'm sorry to hear how unwell you've been feeling lately.

    It sounds like the last 5 weeks have been very tough but I'm glad you spoke to your GP and they are now running tests to figure out the cause of your symptoms.

    Waiting for tests and results is always difficult so if you'd like to talk any of this through with one of our cancer nurses, you can do so on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very insightful and will do all they can to support you.

    Hopefully some of our members who have been in a similar position will share their experiences and advice with you soon as well.
