Waiting for tests - after having an elevated CA125 I've been referred for an urgent ultrasound. I'm terrified

I have endometriosis and have been struggling with it for years. My pain came back fairly quickly after a laparoscopy to remove the lesions they could find but doctors weren't taking me seriously. I have asked repeatedly for a hysterectomy but those conversations have always gone terribly and I've them left feeling ignored and hopeless.

I finally have a GP who is listening to me about the pain and other symptoms and ordered a blood test. She called me soon after to say I had an elevated CA125 and she would be referring me for an urgent ultrasound.

I've been waiting a week with one more week to wait before the test and I am terrified.

  • Hi JadeChristine,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to hear you weren't being listened to originally - and it's good that your doctor now is helping.

I can understand your worries as I know it's never easy dealing with this kind of uncertainty, and waiting for appointments.

Where possible, try to take things a day at a time while you wait, and keep busy.

My reply here will give your post a little boost so a few more people should see it, and hopefully you'll get more replies.

I hope you find the forum useful.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
