I know it's never easy waiting for appointments and dealing with uncertainty, so I can understand your worries.

It's good that they are being thorough in referring you - hopefully this will provide some peace of mind, despite the wait.

While waiting some say it helps to try to keep busy and focused on other things as much as possible - and try to take things a day at a time.
