Swollen lymph node in neck

Hello everyone,

I’ve had a swollen lymph node in my neck for just over 8 weeks, I’ve been to the doctors 3 times and the final appointment she finally took my seriously and referred me to ent as an urgent case.

She said I have no red flags and my bloods are fine. So she doesn’t think it’s cancer related however after reading everyone’s stories I’m starting to worry.

The lump hasn’t enlarged but for about a week I’ve been having a weird chest pain, it started as a burning sensation and now is more a dull ache. I feel fine otherwise and no other lumps have appeared.

As I’m writing this I’m not sure what I’m after, advice, your stories or support. Anything really. I’m a 29 year old with an 14 month old and I’m terrified I’m not going to see him grow.

  • Hi SVAB1996,

I know it's never easy when waiting for appointments so I hope you are getting on OK. You've done the right thing by seeing your doctor, and it's good that you have the referral as this means you'll get the information you need.

I hope it's not long to wait for your appointment. Try to take things a day at a time while you wait, and some say it helps to try to find distractions and to keep busy.

In the meantime, hopefully you'll get more replies to your post here soon.

    Wishing you all the best,

  • Thank you, I’ve just phoned the doctors and turns out my referral has been rejected, unsure why as they’re waiting for a letter.

since Saturday I’ve had a horrible lump feeling in my throat and pain, hoping it’s not related
