Hi Christinep and welcome to the forum.
Swelling can be a possible side effect from having a breast biopsy but if you're worried about any of the symptoms you're experiencing don't hesitate to get in touch with the breast clinic that carried out your biopsy or your GP as they will be able to examine you and let you know if there is any cause for concern. Hopefully everything will be o.k, but it's always good to have peace of mind.
Lots of our members have had a breast biopsy so hopefully some of them will stop by soon to share their thoughts and advice but if you would like to have a quick chat about this with one of our cancer nurses, they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.
I hope the swelling starts to go down soon and you don't have to wait too long for your results. We'll have our fingers crossed for good news.
Kind regards,
Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
Hi Christine. I had a biopsy a week ago, and the doctor warned me that the lump would feel much larger for a while due to swelling and not to worry. She said to try and avoid touching/checking it, but acknowledged that's easier said than done!
I actually still have some numbness in my breast- not near the lump but higher up. It feels like after the anaesthetic wore off, the feeling hasn't quite returned in that area. I'm just hoping with more time, it will go back to normal
