Skin lesion

I recently visited my GP due to a lesion on my arm that was growing and was constantly bleeding profusely when knocked.  My GP felt it was a pyogenic Granuloma and gave me some medication, this reduced very slightly burn the growth remained, so I reached out again and now the GP has referred me for an urgent referral with a dermatologist.  Looking at family photos I have had a mark in the location since 2017 and a photo in 2024 showed a changed and now it is very much worse.  Anyone had an experience like this or any ideas of what this may be as I am now starting to worry and have another 10 days before the dermatology appointment?  Many thanks

  • Hi Cmat64,

You did the right thing in going to visit your GP after you noticed this lesion on your arm that was growing in size and was bleeding profusely and it was also the right thing to do to go back to your GP when you noticed that the growth remained and it's good that they are being thorough and that they have given you an urgent referral with a dermatologist. It sounds like you have had this mark for a while now and that it gradually changed and as it's now got much worse it is important to have it carefully examined.

It's hard to know what it might be but it won't be long now I am sure until you get some definite answers and some clarity as to what this might be. I hope that you will hear from other members of our community who have had a similar experience and that they will come and share their story with you.

Only a few days to go now until your appointment but those days can feel really long and while you are waiting I thought I would share with you these helpful tips to help you cope during this time of uncertainty.

I am keeping everything crossed for you that it all turns out to be nothing of concern and that you get answers very soon.

    Best wishes,
