Not sure what to think.....

Hi all,

My husband has had bleeding for a few months. After a pretty bad episode he went to the gp who done a FIT test. Results have come back over 1000......has anyone else had this and the outcome not been bad? 

I know its hard to say but can anyone give any advice? He has a colonoscopy this week and cant help but worry for the results. 

The bleesing has gotten worse and quite a bit is present.

    Hi,

    You’re bound to be worried but remember that a FIT test only tells you that there’s blood in the poo, not how it got there.
    There are many potential causes, as well as bowel cancer which is of course the most worrying. The vast majority of high FIT scores (80%) do not lead to a bowel cancer diagnosis.
    The colonoscopy will show up anything obvious and they may well take biopsies of anything that looks “interesting”. 
    In the past I’ve asked to see the monitor, so I can see for myself exactly what’s on the screen in real time.
