Smear test - can I get one despite only being 21 years old? I've been experiencing abnormal bleeding

I'm 21 years old and just wondering can I get pap smear test for abnormal bleeding. I never experienced abnormal bleeding u til today I spoke to 111 they told me to get an appointment with the gp which I will try tomorrow and I must admit I'm very constipated and my pelvis are are tight and hurting and Im not bleeding when I wee but when I wipe and two weeks ago I had my period so I'm not sure if it's unusual or not but hopefully the gp will help me and I'm not bleeding heavily which is good but I never been in so much discomfort :/ I Dont take contraception or have sex so it's very unusual for me :/  

  • Welcome to the forum ilovebakingvictorisponges21 although I'm sorry to hear you've been experiencing abnormal bleeding and struggling with other symptoms as well.

    I know this must be worrying but I hope the chat you had with 111 managed to put your mind at ease slightly and you've now managed to book an appointment with your GP.

    Unfortunately I can't answer your question about whether you can get a smear test at 21 but our team of cancer nurses should be able to help, so if you'd like to ask them about this, and discuss any other concerns you have about your other symptoms, you can give them a call on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m
