Possible ureter cancer?

Hey I've been through an emotional rollercoaster this past 13 weeks. I presented to ED with a severe kidney infection, was very unwell and admitted for a few days.  After a few tests they found hydroneprosis & microscopic haematura discharged me and referred me to urology. I had a CT urogram which only said something obstructing the ureter and referred for a ureterscopy. I also had a renogram which shows my left kidney function at 36% but overall kidney function is 60%. When I went for the ureterscopy they said that I have narrowing at distal and placed a stent and could not pass the scope. I have my second ureterscopy in 1 weeks time (4 weeks from the original one). At this point I was told I have I come back to Investigate a filling defect at the pelvic brim which is separate from the distal narrowing. I have myself worked up so much and I'm constantly crying and sick with worry. I am a 42 year old female.

  • Welcome to the forum EDATC although I'm sorry to hear about everything you're going through.

This must be a very stressful and anxious time but I'm glad you've reached out to us as so many of our members know how difficult it can be waiting for further tests and results, so you are not alone, and hopefully you will receive some support and advice from them soon.

I know you've said you've got yourself rather worked up about this so I was wondering if it may help to talk things through with one of our nurses? They're very knowledgeable and with all their experience and insight they will be able to address your concerns and hopefully put your mind at ease slightly whilst you wait, so if you'd like to speak with them, they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

I hope this guide we have on how to cope with waiting for news will be useful as well but in the meantime, we're sending you all our support EDATC and wishing you all the best with your second ureteroscopy next week.

    Kind regards,
