Lump in axilla - been given antibiotics for 7 days and if it doesn't go I'll be referred to the breast clinic. Has anyone been through anything similar?

Hi everyone ️.

I recently found a lump in my right armpit and I thought it was a spot so I tried to squeeze it. Nothing came out. There's no head or pimple in the middle. It's not hot or hurting and it's painless. It's not even a ingrown hair because I don't get chance to shave.. And I don't have periods so it's nothing to do with time of the month. I'm also not ill or fighting with the flu or anything.

I went to the gp and she felt it, she said she wanted me to try antibiotics for 7 days and then if it doesn't go ill have to go to the breast clinic.

Has anyone else been through similar?

Hi Beth,

You did the right thing in going to the GP and it's quite common to be referred to a breast clinic for a lump. It's important that these are checked to make sure it's nothing serious, so please try not to worry. I hope the antibiotics do the trick and in the meantime you can read more about urgent referrals explained on our website, if you'd like to get a better idea of the process.
