Enlarged lymphonodes

A couple of weeks ago, I had an X-ray, and the results showed enlarged lymph nodes near my windpipe.

The doctor mentioned that the possible causes could be sarcoidosis or lymphoma.

On Tuesday, I had a CT scan, and on Wednesday, I had additional blood tests.

A biopsy was also being considered, but in the doctor’s letter, it said he needed access to the “irris,” which I don’t fully understand.

My question is: will the hospital or doctor contact me with the results of the CT scan and the latest blood work to provide an update?

  • Hi Lorena81,

Welcome to Cancer Chat - I hope you are getting on as OK as can be, as I'm sure the uncertainty and waiting is difficult.

You should get an appointment with your doctor/specialist with the results. Normally you would be given an idea of how long to potentially wait for this - it tends to be around a couple of weeks.

You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of our nurses, who will also be able to advise. If you'd like to do this, you can either post in the 'Ask the Nurses' section of this forum, or you can call freephone 0808 800 4040 - Monday-Friday, 9-5.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
