Positive FIT Test

Hi

Over the last few months I have been having diarrhea on and off, maybe once a week, when I do pass normal stools it can be with urgency especially first thing in the morning when I wake up and can be a large amount but not usually diarrhea. I usually have a cramp before I go and then once I have been the cramp goes. Also had a lot of flatulance, sometimes constant for days then days without any at all.

My Dr suggested a FIT test which came back at 25 so now waiting for colonoscopy. Blood tests were all normal.

I am so scared of what the outcome will be and can't stop thinking about it and reading things on Google.

Has anyone had similar symptoms/test results?

Thanks in advance

  • Just to say I've had 2 Colonoscopies one being this year ,both of my fit test results were higher than yours and thankfully nothing sinister was found when I had the Colonoscopies ,25 is a very low number ,results can be in the high hundreds so I wouldn't worry yourself sick considering your blood results were fine as well ,I also had many weeks of diarrhea and weight loss .Its much more likely to be something far less serious than cancer causing your symptoms nevertheless its good that you went to GP and you are getting checked out ,I hope all goes well ,if you need to ask anything before your test just do so ,I should be able to answer your questions .

Thank you so much for your reply Jenny I really appreciate you taking the time to do this and for offering to answer any questions I might have. That is really kind. So glad to hear you had the all clear.

Seeing the referral letter freaked me out just with the way it's all worded and don't think I have helped myself looking at Google either! I saw people saying they had a low FIT result then re done it a few weeks later and it was in the hundreds. That also worried me thinking mine could be higher than what it has first said.

Just getting myself far too worked up I think!

Thank you so much again for replying to me x

SueCC thanks so much for you message. Did you have any other symptoms? X

Hi, no I didn’t have any symptoms really, maybe not very regularly going for a poo, it was just the fit test, then they put me on the 2ww, are you on that x

Yes I have the colonoscopy on Sunday and convinced myself it's going to be bad. I know my test wasn't high compared to others and I've had not visible bleeding just really up and down bowel movements and lots of wind. Its just so hard to think positively with something like this x

Thank you so much ️ did you manage to get sleep after taking your first dose? I have an afternoon appointment so don't take my first one until 7pm. Worried I'll be up all night!!! Xx

Also how did you get your results? I'm dreading them saying "have you got anyone with you today" as they just suggests it's bad news! Think I'd rather they just told me soon as they see something x

He told me when I was still in the room that he hadn’t seen anything apart from the polyp, he said hes sure that it’s not cancer but has to be sent away, after been in recovery for half hour was taken to discharge room where a nurse came in with the pics that was taken and said nothing was seen and they were taking me off the 2ww. You should get to know on the day, I’ve got everything crossed for you xx
