Menopause and bleeding

I have been through the menopause and haven’t had a period in 4yrs I started bleeding 2wks ago and I am still bleeding so after doing some investigating I made an appointment at the doctors she done a smear and checked my cervix all seems well but Iv been referred to gynaecology for an ultrasound and to take a swab of the lining of my uterus I think that’s what she said. I am feeling very anxious as I am only 47 years old. I have lost two stone in a very short time and I have been feeling like I have no energy but as us women do we keep going on so waiting for my appointment fingers crossed.

  • Hi Tava,

Incidentally, I have just come across another thread on post menopausal bleeding by  which has just been posted on the forum so this could be a good person for you to connect with as you are both currently worried about this unusual bleeding.

It's good that they are being thorough in their investigations and that despite the fact that everything seemed well, they are referring you to gynaecology for an ultrasound and to take a swab of the lining of your uterus. It is normal to feel anxious but you will be in the most expert hands to find out what it is.  Make sure you mention everything to them including the rapid weight loss and your lack of energy so that they can have a full picture of your symptoms.

I hope you won't have to wait too long for your appointment and I am keeping everything crossed for you that it all turns out to be nothing of concern. As I know that waiting is the hardest thing and this may be a very anxious time for you, I thought I would share with you our helpful tips to help you cope while waiting for important news.

Keeping everything tightly crossed for you that it all turns out to be nothing concern and that you get some definite answers very soon.

    Best wishes,
