2week pathways for breast cancer

Hi, I’m 32 mum of 4 children, I noticed my right nipple was look ‘different’ ever so slightly but definitely different, thinking it was nothing to be concerned about I ignored it, fast forward few days a red mark appeared on my right breast/nipple, mum made me go to gp who examined and has decided she wants me to be seen at the breast clinic for testing, she did say she couldn’t feel any lumps in my breast and squeezed both nipples and no discharge of any kind, I have an appointment for this Thursday, my other symptoms are nausea, ridiculous amount of sweating, loss of appetite, right shoulder aches and fingers keep going tingly so trying to convince myself it’s just a nerve issue and the dr is just being safe than sorry (so grateful for) but waiting till Thursday I feel is making my anxiety go through the roof, has anyone else experienced these symptoms had testing and turned out to be nothing? Probably the wrong question to ask, but I feel like the wait is going to make me go insane thanks in advance

  • Hello Girliepop

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently had some concerns about your breast health. It's good to know that you've already seen your GP and that you now have an appointment at the breast clinic later this week.

We know that for many people this period of waiting can be really difficult, and it's natural to be anxious. It may help to keep in mind that the majority of people who are seen in a breast clinic do not go on to be diagnosed with cancer. There can be many other reasons for the concerns that you've had.

If it would help to talk things through with one of our nurses, you're most welcome to give them a call. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information and support they can. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

Hopefully the team will be able to give you some reassurance when you see them later this week. Keep in touch Girliepop and let us know how you get on. We're here for you.

    Best wishes,
