Worried about cancer

A couple of weeks ago I discovered a lump on right side of upper neck. I went to doctors and all blood work they said was normal but I had indication in my blood I had recently had an infection.

I went for a private ultrasound as I also had swelling in my right wrist and small purple marks on my hand, the ultrasound revealed swollen lymph node but nothing to be worried about and also said my wrist had muscle inflammation but again nothing to worry about.

I started to feel better but i went to toilet last night and when doing toilet had bleeding from my rectum which turned toilet water red and also was on the surface of my poo. I have recently given birth and I have lost all sensation in my back passage so doctor thinks it’s in relation to that however in the last couple of weeks I’ve also been noticing that I can feel my left rib - it doesn’t hurt but after checking it tonight it is protruding way more than my right and i can just feel its there. I’ve also noticed today that my right nipple is purple and a different colour from my left.

I have physio on Monday so going to mention my rib and hand to them and also the bleeding but I’m really worried about what could be causing all of this.

  • Hello Khug1991,

You did the right thing in showing this lump you discovered on the right side of your upper neck. It's reassuring that the bloods were normal and it sounds like you recently had an infection. The ultrasounds also seem to have given you reassurance that there is nothing to worry about. It was important though to bring up the rectal bleeding and if it does happen again do talk to your doctor about it. It's a good idea to mention the rib to physio on Monday as well as the bleeding and it might be worth going back to the doctor's if you are worried about your right nipple being a different colour. You could perhaps consider getting a second opinion just for total peace of mind about all the issues you have mentioned above.

I hope that you feel completely reassured soon and that it turns out to be nothing of concern.

    Best wishes,
