Exhausted and frustrated at slow diagnosis

Started feeling dizzy a year ago following a fifty mile walk in four days for Brain Cancer.

loads of blood tests, nothing..

Pain in right side under ribs since 2007, on and off, waking in early hours feeling nauseous, needing to poo urgently.

Feeling really ill nearly every day for the past three months, better in the evenings but very dry mouth.

Gastroscopy , normal, awaiting results of urgent colonoscopy ct, now have blood in urine, no pain or irritation when peeing.

Appetite good, eating little and often as food gives me reactive hypoglycemia..no weight loss.

Beginning to feel mentally exhausted!, makes me feel guilty when there are people far worse off than me!

  • Hi Carrol,

Wow, well done for walking 50 miles for brain cancer!  That is a remarkable achievement but I am sorry that you felt dizzy right after the walk and that you haven't been feeling well for the last 3 months. It's reassuring that the gastroscopy was normal and I hope that you won't have to wait too long for the results of your urgent colonoscopy. It's worth flagging with your doctor if you haven't done so already that you have blood in the urine.

It's all a bit of a waiting game for you now and I can imagine this has all been so exhausting mentally. Don't feel guilty though we are all here for you and I hope that you will get some definite answers soon. Waiting for scan results is never easy and I hope that you won't have much longer to wait now for the results of your colonoscopy. It can be so frustrating to have to wait so long for a diagnosis and I wanted to send you these helpful strategies to help you cope while waiting for important news.

Keeping everything crossed that you get some clarity soon and that it all turns out to be nothing of concern. Other members of our community may have experienced similar symptoms before and I hope they will be along shortly to share their experiences with you.

    Best wishes,
