Hysteroscopy on Friday - terrified it’s womb cancer

Hi all, I’m 46 and had an ultrasound scan due to some very heavy bleeding and 3 periods within 5 weeks - I’m on HRT.

The scan showed 9mm thickness womb lining so was referred to Gynaecology oncology. Went last week for biopsy but they could not do it due to position of cervix and difficulty getting through (I’ve never had children.)

Now booked in for hysteroscopy on Friday under GA as day surgery patient. I am terrified and feel like I’ve been swept along by this whole thing as all happened in less then 3 weeks (wonderful service from NHS.)

I know I’m relatively young and my linings not “that” thick but I have numerous family members who have had womb/ovarian cancer at a young age and have PCOS and never been pregnant which apparently both increase your risk.

Feel like I just want to curl up and cry!

  • I’m going through the same thing right now. Apart from I have had children. I have my biopsy next week. I’m worried too I also was on hrt but stopped it when I had a big blood clot along with heavy bleeding. I have heard it is fairly common. fingers crossed for you.
