Ovarian cancer worry - how long for omentium biopsy results.

I am aged 51, was.diagnosed with a 5cm suspected  dermoid cyst on right in anuary this year.

Saw gynaecologist in March who said dermoid cyst and put on watch and wait. At follow up appt in July decision taken to remove cyst via salpingo oppherecotmy which I had today.

Surgeon said would.only.take biopsy if appeared suspicious but he didn't expect it that would be the case

After speaking with the nurse about another concern  have just found that they have taken a biopsy. After I was returned to the ward other than doing my obs I  was largely.ignored so have absolutely no info about timescales for results etc. How long have folk waited for their results.

I am so worried as really wasn't expecting thiis.

  • Welcome to the forum Kb197974, although I'm sorry for the worry this is causing.

    Hopefully some of our members will share their wait times with you soon but if you have a contact number for the department that carried out your biopsy you could try getting in touch with them to get a rough idea for how long you may be waiting as it can differ depending on what part of the UK you're in. If you don't have a number for them, you could try and see if your GP can find out for you instead.
