Possible breast cancer

I found a lump in my left breast about 4 weeks ago , went to doctors who referred me , I went for my appointment and was told I would have a mammogram and scan , whilst in my scan they needed to do a biopsy from my breast and from my armpit , lymph nodes ,they also placed a " marker ,"  I  then had a second mammogram to make sure marker was in place .

Nearly 2 long  weeks later I get a letter via NHS app saying I have an appointment at the breast clinic on Wednesday  ? Do you get called in for face to face for negative results( benign)  or is it due to it being more ?

  • Hi Nanny501975,

A very warm welcome to Cancer Chat.

You have done the right thing by getting this checked out. Waiting for the results is always an anxious time and I'm glad to hear that this period is nearly over. Try not to worry about your appointment. Most consultants prefer to give all results, both good and bad, face-to-face. It sounds as if you have had all of the usual things done at your last appointment and should have an answer on Wednesday.

Not all lumps are cancerous. Many turn out to be benign cysts or fibroadenoma. Here's hoping that nothing untoward is found. Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
