Dermoid cysts. Help/advice please

Please help! I’m looking for advice on dermoid cyst removal and am very confused due to what I’ve been told by my gynaecologist. I’m 46, live in Northern Ireland and I’ve recently been diagnosed with a 7.5x9.5cm on my right ovary and a 4 cm on my left left. Gynaecologist says I’ll need open surgery due to size and right ovary removed and cannot guarantee the left will not be removed incase it bleeds etc. I have stressed to her that I do not want to enter surgical menopause and if my ovarian tissue can be spared but she says this can’t be guaranteed.

I’m very confused because I have read countless stories of women with even larger dermoids who have had only the cyst removed and the ovaries preserved. Also by keyhole and not open? Why is she saying mine is too big for keyhole? Is it because of my age and the system just thinking that they can do away with my reproductive organs because I’m “past it”? For the record I have never had any other heath issues and also gave birth to my daughter naturally with zero issues.

Should I fight for a second option and a surgeon who can guarantee cyst removal only? I know I will enter menopause one day as it’s inevitable but I feel for my own health I’d rather my hormones decline gradually and naturally, rather than be forced abruptly.

Appreciate any advice as I feel I’m being given the short end of the stick as opposed to the best option.

Thanks so much
