Pain in pelvic bone and groin lymph nodes

Hi everyone,

I have turned to this group as I am desperately worried.

I have had pain in the lower left abdomen, pelvic bone and left groin lymph nodes for the whole of this year.  At the same time I had bad constipation and saw GP who said it was a large bowel problem.  He wasn't wrong as within a couple of weeks my bowel erupted and I was admitted to hospital with the worst pain I've ever known and bad bleeding.  I was told it was colitis and I did have long, thin stools with blood ever since.  I had a colonoscopy a few days ago which said all clear - no colitis or polyps.

The whole time I kept telling the doctors about the pelvic bone, lymph nodes and lower left pain and back pain but they dismissed it.  This pain is now very bad.  I also have a painful and tender to touch lump just below belly button and slightly to the left.

I have read that ovarian cancer causes all of the above symptoms including the bowel problems.  Has anyone else experienced this?

  • I'm really sorry to hear about everything you have been through and the pain you're currently experiencing Nuela.

It must be very difficult, especially when you feel like you're not being listened to, but try to stand your ground and be persistent as you know your body better than anyone else and with your symptoms getting worse, this needs to be resolved. If you haven't done so already, you could try getting a second opinion from a different doctor.

Many of our members have found themselves in similarly frustrating positions when trying to find the cause of their symptoms, so you are not alone Nuela, and hopefully some of them will stop by soon to share their experiences and advice.

If it would help to talk things through with one of our cancer nurses they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very insightful and will do all they can to address your questions and concerns.

We're sending you all our support Nuela and will have our fingers crossed you're able to get some much needed answers and peace of mind over this soon.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
