Hello
a little about me… I went for a ultrasound 10 days ago for a unrelated issue (TMJ) and incidentally thyroid nodules were found … scan as below:-
“Radiology Results
^Large lump approx 3cm to top of TMJ USS neck report: ***THIS REPORT
CONTAINS SIGNIFICANT OR UNEXPECTED
FINDINGS THAT REQUIRE FURTHER
ACTION*** The palpable lump as indicated by the patient corresponds
to the left TMJ joint. No focal abnormality identified in the
underlying structures. Normal appearance of the left parotid gland.
Normal appearances of the major salivary glands. No Cervical
lymphadenopathy seen in the neck. Incidental finding of nodules in the
thyroid. There is a 32 x 21 x 23 mm right sided nodule which is mainly
isoechoic with some cystic change, however there are some echogenic foci which may represent microcalcification.
The nodule also demonstrates increased vascularity centrally.
there are a further 2 nodule located in the Left lobe which are hypochoic to the rest of
the gland and also contain some echogenic foci
which may represent microcalcification, with mainly peripheral vascularity demonstrated.
Comment: Incidental thyroid nodules - All nodules British Thyroid
Association Grade U4 (suspicious) - please refer urgently to the ENT thyroid clinic.”
I have since had an appointment at ENT which was mainly discussion around removal of the Thyroid regardless of the outcomes, and I have a biopsy on Monday.
I have since noticed some pea side lumps in my neck which I believe to be Lymph Nodes, however the scan didn’t mention anything with regards to them looking suspicious. I wondered if anyone had been in a similar situation please?
Symptom wise I can’t say I’ve had any trouble from the nodules, no pain or discomfort. I have been experiencing extreme fatigue for months, palpitations and weight loss (2.5 stone). I had bloods in June and July which showed my TSH was low (0.09 at lowest) however the last set of bloods in August showed my TSH was back in normal range (0.30).
If anyone has been in a similar situation to me I would love to hear your experience- I’m not worried about the “C” word however I am trying to correlate my symptoms together to make some sense and understand if my Thyroid could have been causing me to feel this way the last few months.
thank you for taking the time to read this - big loves to all ️
