Hi there,
I’m here to see other people’s experiences and if anyone has any recommendations on what I can do to advocate for myself as I don’t feel as though I’m being taken seriously
I’m 31, and since January have been experiencing bleeding every time I have intercourse. I went to my GP in Jan, where she found an ectropion on my cervix, she referred me for a transvaginal ultrasound and said to come back if it doesn’t improve
I went back some months later, as I had not heard anything about the scan and I had more symptoms - bleeding became worse and now was experiencing pain during intercourse - she re-referred me for the scan as the original referral did not go through. She also referred me to gynae.
I went back again a month ago as I was now having the bleeding and pain during/after intercourse and this was becoming worse, as well as pelvic pain and fatigue. I asked her to check my cervix again to see if she could see the source of bleeding. She couldn’t see an obvious source of bleeding, but noted that there were changes in my cervix that was not there in January. She referred me to colposcopy.
I then went for a transvaginal ultrasound on Friday where they found a very small, 3mm growth inside my cervix which isn’t visible externally on examination. My uterus and ovaries were normal.
Gynae refused my colposcopy referral and instead referred me to the menstrual disorders clinic for a hysteroscopy. I feel as though this isn’t correct and a colposcopy should be completed also?
Gynae do not seem bothered and I’m really really worried because I’ve never experienced anything like this before. I last had a smear 3 years ago which was normal. And a lot of the signs I feel are worrisome and warrant a colposcopy, I am of course open to hysteroscopy also.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I don’t really know what to do next.
