I had a Transvaal ultrasound in August 2024 which has suggested fibroids. This was due to extremely heavy periods. Which had become a lot worse over the last 18 months. My GP had no concerns but referred me to gynaecology at my local hospital.
I had a face to face appointment with a consultant at my local hospital on 7th July. He prescribed ryeqo to help shrink the fibroids and ordered a hysteroscopy to see what we were dealing with. Agreed a follow up appointment with him for 4 months time. To discuss any next steps and see how I was getting on with the medication.
I had my hysteroscopy on the 19th September 2025 which again suggested fibroids and a biopsy was taken. My doctor called me on the 9th October 2025 and said the biopsy had shown sinister signs and cancer. Explained that the biopsy had been sent for further testing and a second opinion, also to be prepared that I would require more tests within the next few weeks.
I had an MRI scan on the 20th October, within 6 hours of having the scan I received an appointment for a face to face consultation with a specialist gynaecologist, this will be on the 3rd November 2025.
In between all of this I had my routine Pap smear which was abnormal. After a colposcopy and cervical biopsy I had a LLETZ procedure.
I am driving myself sick with worry… have I got cancer, is it only fibroids!?!
I have not had a confirmed diagnosis.
I am 42, no children with some perimenopause symptoms. I started my periods when I was 9 years old.
