Mole change

I have had a mole change, noticed around 4 years ago. My doctors told me to see a pharmacist, the pharmacy said they don't deal with that so I just brushed it off and thought nothing of it.

I've now seen so much regarding melanoma and have become full of anxiety thinking I have it. The past few weeks bones all over my body have been aching and now i've linked the 2 together and my mind is all over the place thinking i've had growing melanoma for 4 years

I have an urgent doctors appointment on Friday but just so full of anxiety.

  • Hi,

I'm sorry you've been let down by your GP before & are now waiting for your appointment. Hopefully this time you will be dealt with much better & your mole examined. It would be good if the GP has training in dermatology because they can then look at your mole using a dermascope (a hand held microscope that shows any change in the cell structure of the mole).  If there are any changes, they will refer you to Dermatology. If they aren't trained in dermatology, they should give points due to size, shape, colour, bleeding etc - 3 or more points means they must refer the patient to Dermatology.

Good luck & hopefully your mole is found to be fine. Please let us know how you get on,

Angie (Stage 3 melanoma patient since 2009)
