Advice-neck lump for a year

Last year I noticed a hard lump at the base of the back of my neck. After a few weeks I went to the doctors and they said likely a muscle knot, I had a blood test which was fine. One year later and the hard, immovable, painless lump is still there. I have googled muscle knots which say it would cause a dull pain however this is painless. Should I go back to the doctors and ask for more tests?

  • Hi CathD,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. If you have any concerns or questions about what you've been told so far for this, or you feel you could do with some reassurance, then it would be good to speak to your doctor again - they will be best placed to advise.

You can also ask to see someone different if you would prefer.

    Best wishes,

  • I have just posted a similar question - I have now a painless lump on the side of my neck for over 5 weeks that might be a cyst or a muscle lump. I have pushed for further examination, but not sure when these will happen. I read the same - that muscle lumps are usually painful. Also, I suppose, they would have gone away by now? If malignous, I suppose they would have grown? But no idea! Maybe let it check again with the doctor?
